Intervention Specialist, Special Education & IEP
Overview
You will own the educational and behavioral goals for students with Individualized Education Programs at Cornerstone Academy's high school in Westerville, Ohio. This role sits within a collaborative team of teachers and specialists, supported by ACCEL Schools' network of 80+ charter schools. You will conduct assessments, write IEPs, and drive student achievement in a full-inclusion model. Your work directly shapes a nurturing, college-prep environment for a diverse student body.
What You'll Do9
- 1Collaborate with classroom teachers to interpret student abilities and disabilities, modifying general curriculum and assisting with regular class assignments.
- 2Conduct diagnostic assessments to pinpoint learning needs and guide instructional planning.
- 3Perform functional behavior assessments and implement behavior improvement plans.
- 4Facilitate IEP meetings, writing measurable goals and objectives for each student.
- 5Relentlessly pursue student achievement goals, including state-specific targets in Common Core standards.
- 6Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices and research-based interventions into daily lessons.
- 7Serve as an advisor to a designated student group, fostering social-emotional growth.
- 8Communicate regularly with families about academic progress and social-emotional development.
- 9Participate in planning and executing non-instructional activities like social events and field trips.
Requirements9
- 1Current state license in special education.
- 2Knowledge of state standards and Common Core standards.
- 3Experience in a full-inclusion or co-teaching model.
- 4Comfort in a coaching environment focused on observations and data-driven action planning.
- 5High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
- 6Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
- 7Excellent organization and time management skills.
- 8Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI).
- 9Experience in a multi-cultural setting preferred.
