What You'll Do7
- 1Verify insurance coverage and benefits for all scheduled surgical procedures, using practice management systems and payer portals.
- 2Contact insurance companies to confirm pre-authorization, eligibility, and patient financial responsibility before surgery dates.
- 3Document verification results and updates in the electronic health record (EHR) and billing systems, flagging any gaps.
- 4Communicate with patients regarding coverage details, out-of-pocket costs, and payment expectations, ensuring clarity and compassion.
- 5Collaborate with surgical coordinators and clinical teams to resolve insurance issues and prevent claim denials.
- 6Monitor and follow up on pending verifications, maintaining a 100% completion rate for each surgical schedule.
- 7Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the billing supervisor with detailed documentation and recommendations.
Requirements7
- 12+ years of insurance verification experience in a medical office setting, with a focus on surgical procedures.
- 23+ years of combined medical business office experience, including patient interaction and insurance coordination.
- 3Familiarity with medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Medisoft, or similar) and insurance carrier portals.
- 4Strong working knowledge of insurance plans (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid) and verification processes.
- 5Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with patients and insurance representatives.
- 6Ability to work onsite in Kingwood, TX, with a full-time schedule; remote work is not available.
- 7High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing or coding is a plus.
