What You'll Do10

  • 1Maintain inventory and lean practices to avoid waste and keep the department within budget.
  • 2Ensure section compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, developing plans for inspection improvements.
  • 3Keep policies and procedures up to date for regulatory compliance.
  • 4Troubleshoot instruments, procedures, and staff issues, initiating corrective actions.
  • 5Develop and review the quality control program, including QC review, proficiency testing, training, and competencies.
  • 6Perform validation procedures for new methods and instruments in compliance with regulations.
  • 7Complete HR documentation for new hires and set clear expectations for staff behavior and productivity.
  • 8Conduct yearly evaluations and provide documented feedback and action plans for staff growth.
  • 9Carry out coaching and disciplinary actions after investigation, ensuring compliance with time and attendance, dress code, and safety practices.
  • 10Hold staff accountable for operations through leadership, scheduling, and timely accurate testing, while performing routine rounding to foster collaboration.

Requirements8

  • 1Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 24-6 years of laboratory experience, with a minimum of four years.
  • 3MLSASCP-Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent certification from ASCP required.
  • 4Knowledge in regulatory compliance for QC/QA and competency requirements.
  • 5Skilled in laboratory operations and managing technical staff.
  • 6Good communication and customer relation skills for patient safety and quality processes.
  • 7Ability to perpetuate teamwork and organize/prioritize work within the department.
  • 8Ability to troubleshoot testing, equipment, and quality issues in the area of oversight.
