Industrial Rigging & Machinery Installation Technologist
Overview
You'll own the safe rigging, installation, and relocation of industrial machinery at customer plants across the nation, with 100% travel and a crew that depends on your precision. As a Principal Technologist at D-Riven, you'll coordinate Versa-lifts, millwright casters, fork trucks, and overhead cranes to execute moves that keep production lines running. You'll mentor junior techs, align rotating equipment, and deliver mechanically sound results. This role offers steady overtime, $70 daily per diem, and the chance to see the country while doing hands-on mechanical work that matters.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the rigging and installation of industrial machinery, using Versa-lifts, millwright casters, fork trucks, and overhead cranes to move assets safely.
- 2Execute equipment relocations by studying engineered drawings and schematics, then plan each lift and move with precision.
- 3Disassemble major machinery, document every step for seamless reassembly, and reassemble at the new site to original specifications.
- 4Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical systems to diagnose and fix defects, including bearings, shafts, pulleys, belts, and chains.
- 5Perform preventive maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and alignment to keep machinery running at peak performance.
- 6Modify mechanical utilities, including chilled water, tower water, natural gas, and compressed air, and install threaded, grooved, or pressed piping.
- 7Fabricate pallets and palletize equipment for interplant transfer, then load and unload dry vans and specialty trailers using powered equipment.
- 8Mentor junior technicians on rigging techniques, safety standards, and proper use of tools like pipe threaders and roll groovers.
- 9Collaborate with Team Leads, Project Engineers, and Operations to flag concerns and ensure project milestones are met.
- 10Own the quality and safety of every install, ensuring service records are clean, accurate, and ready for handoff.
Requirements10
- 17+ years of experience in mechanical service or industrial maintenance, with proven millwright and rigging capability.
- 2Technical certification or vocational training in an industrial trade or mechanical technology.
- 3High school diploma or GED.
- 4Ability to read and interpret installation/service manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
- 5Operate forklifts and aerial lifts safely and confidently.
- 6Proficiency with pipe threaders, roll groovers, and cordless power tools.
- 7Foundational electrical knowledge to support mechanical troubleshooting.
- 8Comfort with 100% nationwide travel; trips typically last 3-4 weeks and can extend to a couple of months.
- 9Reliable personal vehicle suitable for interstate travel, plus basic hand tools (wrenches and sockets).
- 10Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
