Overview

Join SiSTEM as an in-person tutor in the Missouri City / Sienna area, working one-on-one with motivated K-12 students and families. Own your schedule and session structure, but align each session with a personalized academic roadmap built on the SiSTEM platform. You'll join a team of 300+ tutors who have served 10,000+ students, with a focus on building deep conceptual understanding, not just homework help. This role stands out because you keep 100% of your earnings, choose your own rates, and get matched to students based on your specific expertise, not random assignments.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Deliver one-on-one, in-person tutoring sessions in your subject areas for students in grades K-12 in the Missouri City / Sienna area.
  • 2Diagnose each student's foundational gaps and design interventions that close those gaps in the first 90 days.
  • 3Build students' study habits, problem-solving strategies, and confidence through structured session plans tied to their SiSTEM roadmap.
  • 4Communicate progress and strategy with families after each session, adjusting plans based on feedback and student response.
  • 5Prepare each session with targeted materials, aligned to the student's current coursework, test prep goals, or skill development.
  • 6Track student performance and session outcomes using SiSTEM's built-in scheduling and session tracking tools.
  • 7Collaborate with the SiSTEM team to refine your tutoring approach, sharing what works with other educators on the platform.

Requirements8

  • 13+ years of teaching, tutoring, or academic mentoring experience at any grade level.
  • 2Deep subject-matter expertise in at least one area: Math (algebra to calculus), Science (biology, chemistry, physics), English (reading, writing, essay), History, World Languages (Spanish, French, ASL), or Computer Science (intro programming, AP CS).
  • 3Reliable transportation and the ability to meet students in person in the Missouri City / Sienna area.
  • 4Experience working with motivated students in Honors, Pre-AP, AP, IB, gifted, dual credit, or test prep settings.
  • 5A documented record of helping students improve grades, build confidence, or master previously challenging concepts.
  • 6Clear, patient communication and the ability to explain a subject so a student who sees themselves as 'not a math person' can succeed.
  • 7Professional reliability: punctual, prepared, and responsive to families and the SiSTEM team.
  • 8High school diploma or equivalent; current high school students are not eligible.
