Overview
Ecology Auto Parts seeks a skilled Diesel Mechanic (Level 2) to lead wet kit installations for PTOs in our Long Beach shop. The role drives uptime for our fleet through expert hydraulic system expertise. This position combines technical mastery with collaborative leadership in a high-energy environment.
What You'll Do11
- 1Install wet kits pumps tanks valves and PTO systems on Class 8 diesel trucks
- 2Diagnose and repair hydraulic pneumatic leaks pressure failures and mechanical issues
- 3Service engines transmissions brakes suspensions and electrical components per OEM standards
- 4Collaborate with senior mechanics on build specs for truck body applications
- 5Ensure all work meets DOT safety standards and manufacturer guidelines
- 6Maintain accurate documentation of work orders parts usage and service notes
- 7Use hand tools diagnostic software welding equipment and hydraulic testing gauges
- 8Monitor hydraulic inventory and recommend restocking when needed
- 9Support preventative service emergency repairs and inspections as assigned
- 10Participate in safety meetings training programs and toolbox talks
- 11Manage independent work schedules while meeting production demands
Requirements11
- 1High school diploma or GED required with vocational certification preferred
- 2Minimum 3+ years diesel mechanic experience including 1+ year specialized in hydraulic systems
- 3Expertise with PTO systems hydraulic pump setups tank configurations and control mechanisms
- 4Own diagnostic equipment power tools and ability to read technical manuals
- 5Proficiency with diesel engine systems DEF systems air brake systems and electrical diagnostics
- 6Valid driver’s license Class A or B preferred
- 7Physical stamina to lift 75 pounds and stand/bend/kneel/crawl frequently
- 8Experience working in dusty noisy environments with grease and diesel fumes
- 9Ability to operate Microsoft Office and fleet maintenance software
- 10Strong communication skills for teamwork and safety collaboration
- 11Commitment to safety protocols including PPE and lockout/tagout procedures
