HSE Director, Multi-State Facilities Services
Overview
You own all company-wide Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives across multi-state operations. AB Facility Services serves commercial, industrial, and retail clients, with a field team of janitorial and HVAC staff. You partner with Operations and Field Leadership to build scalable safety programs and reduce risk. This role stands out for its hands-on field presence, requiring OSHA 30 and 500/501/510/511 certifications. You travel 25% to branches in NJ, NY, DMV, and FL.
What You'll Do7
- 1Conduct routine jobsite inspections and facility audits across multiple locations, using OSHA standards to identify hazards and enforce compliance.
- 2Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries, performing root cause analysis with 5-Why and Fishbone techniques, then implement corrective actions with Operations.
- 3Develop and maintain safety policies, SOPs, and training programs, including toolbox talks and onboarding for new hires in janitorial and HVAC roles.
- 4Manage OSHA logs, compliance records, and regulatory filings, ensuring accurate reporting and metrics for leadership review.
- 5Partner with field supervisors to assess risks on construction and maintenance projects, prioritizing high-risk activities like electrical and mechanical work.
- 6Support workers' compensation investigations and return-to-work initiatives, coordinating with HR and insurance providers.
- 7Drive a proactive safety culture by leading monthly safety meetings and coaching crews on PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.
Requirements8
- 17+ years leading health and safety programs in facilities services, commercial cleaning, HVAC, or field service environments.
- 2OSHA 30 certification, plus 500, 501, 510, or 511 certifications.
- 3Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, incident investigation, risk assessment, and workers' compensation processes.
- 4Track record of building company-wide safety programs, SOPs, and employee training initiatives.
- 5Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and corrective action planning in active field settings.
- 6Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50% across NJ, NY, DMV, and FL.
- 7Preferred: CHST, CSP, ASP, or OSHA 500 certification.
- 8Preferred: Experience supporting union environments.
