Hotel General Manager, Cruise Ship Operations
Overview
As Hotel General Manager, you will own the daily guest experience across our fleet of 200-passenger vessels, directing hospitality, housekeeping, and food service. You will lead a shipboard team of hotel officers, chefs, and crew, ensuring service excellence and safety. Reporting to the home office, you will translate company standards into memorable cruises. This role combines leadership with hands-on management, including bartending and daily inspections.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the Assistant Hotel Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Restaurant Manager, Cruise Director, Excursions Director, Executive Chef, and Guest Service Coordinator to uphold American Cruise Lines standards.
- 2Drive guest satisfaction by anticipating needs, resolving issues immediately, and presenting daily announcements to guests using a microphone.
- 3Oversee food and culinary operations, confirming chefs follow approved menus and recipes for guest and crew dining.
- 4Maintain impeccable cleanliness by inspecting passenger areas daily and generating work lists with the Mate and Assistant Hotel Manager.
- 5Manage shipboard financials, including accounting, timecards, inventory, and home office reporting.
- 6Coordinate with the Executive Chef to order and receive hotel and food supplies on schedule.
- 7Train and evaluate crew, covering orientation, scheduling, appearance standards, and discipline.
- 8Implement weekly sales goals and coordinate staff game plans to deliver memorable cruises.
- 9Perform bartending duties as needed during peak service times.
Requirements8
- 13+ years of hotel or food and beverage management experience.
- 2Bachelor's degree in business or hospitality management preferred.
- 3Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- 4Willing to live and work aboard the ship for 6-8 weeks at a time.
- 5Ability to pass US Coast Guard regulated drug tests, including testing for marijuana.
- 6Hold or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- 7Capable of standing for entire shifts, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working 14-15 hour days.
- 8Flexible schedule with 7 days per week onboard while on duty.
