Helicopter Mechanic
Overview
Maintain and repair helicopters to meet safety standards. Perform inspections, diagnostics, and complex mechanical and hydraulic repairs. Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and maintain detailed records.
What You'll Do11
- 1Use test equipment to perform track and balance procedures on rotor systems and apply rotor system tracking and balancing theory to make precise adjustments
- 2Interpret and apply Airworthiness Directives and Alert Service Bulletins to ensure compliance on applicable helicopter models
- 3Apply precision measuring instruments such as dial calipers micrometers tensiometers dial bore gauges feeler gauges and borescopes to inspect and evaluate components
- 4Adjust and troubleshoot engine parameters including oil pressure temperature indications and topping settings
- 5Inspect and repair aircraft according to FAA safety guidelines
- 6Perform routine maintenance checks and diagnostic tests to identify hydraulic and mechanical issues
- 7Read and interpret maintenance blueprints manuals and technical documents
- 8Order or coordinate parts supplies and equipment ensuring proper documentation
- 9Keep detailed accurate records of inspections repairs modifications and all maintenance operations
- 10Complete tasks within time frames meeting FAA and company quality standards
- 11Collaborate with mechanics engineers and technical staff to ensure safe efficient operation
Requirements12
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 2At least 3 years of experience as a helicopter mechanic including minimum 2 years on designated helicopter types
- 3Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
- 4Inspection Authorization (IA) license
- 5Strong experience in helicopter inspection aircraft maintenance repair turbine and heavy maintenance
- 6Working knowledge of blueprint reading geometry and trigonometry
- 7Proficiency in using hand tools power tools and welding equipment in aviation maintenance
- 8Familiarity with aviation maintenance manuals and technical publications
- 9Ability to perform troubleshooting on engines avionics and mechanical systems
- 10Experience with major helicopter platforms and manufacturers
- 11Ability to complete maintenance tasks to FAA and company standards while maintaining documentation
- 12Strong attention to detail safety-focused mindset and adherence to regulatory requirements
