Overview
The Guidance Counselor aligns with the district mission to support academic achievement and social/emotional growth for all students preparing for the global economy. This exempt FTE position supports ECAP development and college recommendations. The role focuses on lifelong learning and transition planning.
What You'll Do18
- 1Develop and monitor student Education and Career Action Plans (ECAP) including 4 year plans
- 2Provide academic organizational study and test-taking skills support
- 3Assist students in acquiring knowledge to monitor academic progress and set goals
- 4Support course selection and participate in 8th grade registration and orientation
- 5Make college admissions and scholarship recommendations
- 6Participate in Intervention Planning Teams, 504 and IEP processes
- 7Coordinate with parents on academic career and social issues
- 8Engage in transition planning and document extracurricular activity goals
- 9Identify and embed extra-curricular activity goals in ECAP
- 10Support interpersonal relationship development decision making goal setting and safety skills
- 11Participate in crisis intervention and multicultural diversity awareness
- 12Facilitate peer facilitation and collaborate with support service agencies
- 13Provide substance abuse education through district approved programs
- 14Support post-secondary planning and career interest identification
- 15Implement counseling services programs to enhance student achievement
- 16Contribute to school-wide achievement data analysis and evaluation
- 17Assist with Advanced Placement PSAT AzMERIT Terra Nova testing programs
- 18Attend staff meetings and school-related committees
Requirements10
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 2Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling or related field from Arizona Department of Education
- 3Certification such as CPC Card or BCBA
- 45+ years experience in student academic development
- 5Knowledge of federal and state statutes and district policies
- 6Skill in establishing effective working relations with stakeholders
- 7Ability to operate personal computers using various software applications
- 8Physical requirements: stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing repetitive motions
- 9Medium work exerting up to 50 pounds occasional 20 pounds frequent and 10 pounds constant force
- 10Exposure to moving mechanical parts odors chemicals extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions and intense noises
