Ground Software Solutions Engineer - Python, Kubernetes
Overview
You will own and maintain ground procedures, configurations, and automation software for Loft Orbital's missions. Work with Python, Django, and GraphQL on a platform that controls satellites. Join a team that blends software development with live satellite operations, offering SatDevOps training to operate spacecraft. This role also involves real-time troubleshooting on active missions, making every day different. You will collaborate closely with Product teams to improve Cockpit, our mission control software, and support spacecraft commissioning.
What You'll Do6
- 1Own and maintain ground procedures, configurations, and automation software for specific missions using Python and Git.
- 2Design and implement custom features in Cockpit to support physical and virtual mission customers.
- 3Collaborate with Solutions and Product teams to integrate software and improve product capabilities.
- 4Debug software integration issues during development, testing, and operations using Docker and Kubernetes.
- 5Participate actively in satellite operations and support spacecraft commissioning as part of the team.
- 6Automate operational tasks and workflows using GitLab CI/CD and testing frameworks.
Requirements9
- 15+ years as a Software Engineer or in satellite operations automation involving software development.
- 2Proficiency with Python and Git.
- 3Experience with Docker for containerization.
- 4Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and communicate solutions clearly.
- 5Experience integrating software components and making them work together.
- 6Background in or close proximity to satellite operations.
- 7Knowledge of satellite scheduling concepts and flight dynamics.
- 8Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD and automated testing.
- 9Experience with Django web framework.
