Overview

You will lead legislative and regulatory advocacy for Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies at the Texas Capitol, state executive agencies, and federal government. Reporting to the Director of Government Relations and Compliance, you will shape strategy on property and casualty insurance policy. You will build relationships with elected officials, industry peers, and stakeholders. This role offers direct impact on insurance law and policy in Texas.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Coordinate advocacy at the Texas Capitol and state executive branch offices, in line with company goals.
  • 2Research, monitor, and analyze proposed policies, rules, and regulations affecting insurance operations.
  • 3Develop and execute strategies to advance favorable legislation and block adverse measures.
  • 4Prepare testimony for legislative committees and regulatory agencies, supporting senior executives.
  • 5Track hearings and report on outcomes to the Director and executive leadership.
  • 6Represent the companies at trade group meetings and build new industry partnerships.
  • 7Collaborate with the Director and outside lobbyists to align advocacy efforts.
  • 8Comply with all state lobbying laws, including registration and reporting mandates.
  • 9Maintain Certified Fleet Operator status per the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Requirements6

  • 1Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 25+ years working with state or federal legislatures, legislative staff, or related public policy roles.
  • 3Working knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • 4Strong oral and written communication skills for testimony and reports.
  • 5Proven presentation skills before committees and stakeholder groups.
  • 6Valid Texas driver’s license with a clean record, meeting Certified Fleet Operator standards.
