GCP Cloud Engineer, Google Cloud Platform & Security
Overview
This role owns designing implementing and maintaining scalable secure cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform at scale for a government environment. You will work with cross functional teams to drive cloud automation and security improvements. The position emphasizes infrastructure as code CI/CD and compliance with federal standards while operating onsite in Washington DC. What You'll Do10
- 1Build and manage secure scalable cloud infrastructure on GCP
- 2Develop and maintain Terraform and similar IaC tooling to automate provisioning and configuration
- 3Support CI/CD pipeline automation and management across projects
- 4Collaborate with software engineers security personnel and government stakeholders to optimize workflows
- 5Monitor performance troubleshoot incidents and ensure SLAs are met for cloud services
- 6Implement cloud best practices and ensure compliance with FedRAMP NIST standards
- 7Provide clear documentation and knowledge sharing to the engineering team
- 8Maintain security and access controls using IAM and networking features in GCP
- 9Operate and optimize containerized workloads with Kubernetes and Docker
- 10Prepare for and support federal contracting requirements including security clearance processes
Requirements11
- 1Willing to obtain a security clearance
- 24+ years of experience in cloud engineering with at least 2 years on GCP
- 3Hands on experience with Compute Engine Cloud Functions VPC IAM GKE BigQuery
- 4Experience with IaC tools like Terraform Ansible or Deployment Manager
- 5Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI Jenkins or Cloud Build
- 6Solid understanding of Linux systems networking and containerization (Docker Kubernetes)
- 7Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment
- 8Preferred: GCP Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer certification
- 9Experience supporting federal government contracts and understanding of ATO processes
- 10Familiarity with other clouds (AWS Azure) is a plus
- 11Scripting skills in Python Bash or Go
