What You'll Do8
- 1Manage daily GI consultations and follow-up care for patients with acute and chronic conditions, coordinating with Gastroenterology attendings and nursing staff.
- 2Perform procedures such as paracentesis, liver biopsy, and endoscopic assistance under physician supervision within the first 90 days.
- 3Ship comprehensive discharge plans and patient education materials, reducing readmissions for GI-related diagnoses.
- 4Drive quality improvement initiatives by tracking outcomes for IBD, GERD, and liver disease cohorts.
- 5Lead patient rounds in the inpatient unit, adjusting treatment plans based on lab results and imaging.
- 6Collaborate with Jefferson specialists to coordinate complex cases, including transplant evaluations and pancreatic disorders.
- 7Document all patient encounters in EPIC electronic health records, ensuring compliance with billing and regulatory standards.
- 8Facilitate patient handoffs and transitions of care, reducing length of stay by 15% in targeted units.
Requirements7
- 1Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
- 2National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- 3Current BLS certification.
- 4Pennsylvania state licensure or eligibility to obtain before start date.
- 5Proven experience in gastroenterology or related acute care setting, with 2+ years managing complex GI patients.
- 6Strong clinical assessment and procedural skills, including endoscopic procedure assistance.
- 7Ability to work day shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays, as required by the unit.
