Garden Center Retail Associate, Horticulture & Customer Service
Overview
You will own the customer experience at McCue Garden Center, a lively Boston garden center, serving a high volume of plant and gardening product shoppers. You will operate the POS system, keep the sales floor stocked, and guide customers to the right team members. You will join a close-knit team that values enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. This role stands out for its Monday-Friday 7am-3pm cashier shift option and a beautiful work environment surrounded by plants.
What You'll Do8
- 1Deliver standout customer service at the POS register, processing purchases with accuracy and speed.
- 2Greet every customer with confidence and a smile, directing their questions to the appropriate team member.
- 3Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and fully stocked with plants and gardening products.
- 4Assist customers in selecting plants and products, using your knowledge of horticulture when available.
- 5Handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced garden center, from ringing sales to restocking displays.
- 6Support the team with daily operations, including opening and closing duties as scheduled.
- 7Learn about our plant inventory and care to better serve repeat and new customers.
- 8Contribute to a positive, customer-centric atmosphere by embodying a friendly, helpful attitude.
Requirements7
- 1Prior experience in horticulture or working with plants and gardening products is valued but not required.
- 2Willingness to learn about plants and garden center operations.
- 3Friendly demeanor with a customer-centric mentality and a smile on your face.
- 4Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds (implied by physical nature of role).
- 5Flexible schedule to cover Monday-Friday 7am-3pm shifts as well as afternoon and weekend shifts.
- 6Basic math skills for cash handling and POS operation.
- 7Comfortable working in an outdoor garden center environment with varying weather conditions.
