Cashier Associate, Garden Center & Plant Nursery
Overview
You will own the checkout experience and plant quality at Pike Nurseries, a leader in the Garden Center industry with 60+ years of service in Atlanta and 12+ years in Charlotte. You will work 10-20 hours per week, reporting to the Manager on Duty, and partner with the store team to keep the nursery clean and customer-ready. This role matters because you are the final impression shoppers take with them, and your work directly supports a company that spans the U.S. as the largest independent garden center.
What You'll Do8
- 1Deliver exceptional customer service at the register, greeting each shopper with a smile.
- 2Process sales using the POS system, handle cash, credit, and digital payments accurately.
- 3Keep the checkout area and front-of-store spotless, restocking bags and displays.
- 4Assist customers with carry-outs, loading plants and goods into their vehicles.
- 5Learn and share product knowledge on plants, trees, and garden supplies.
- 6Follow safe work practices and report any hazards to management immediately.
- 7Support seasonal promotions by setting up signage and pricing tags.
- 8Collaborate with merchandising to ensure shelves and racks are fully stocked.
Requirements8
- 11+ years in retail or customer service roles, ideally in a garden center or nursery.
- 2High school diploma or GED; strong math and money-handling skills.
- 3Comfort with POS and computer systems, including touchscreens and cash drawers.
- 4Ability to lift 30-50 lbs unassisted and stand or walk for 6-8 hours per shift.
- 5Weekend availability is mandatory, with shifts varying across peak seasons.
- 6Bright, outgoing personality with a passion for helping customers.
- 7Basic knowledge of plants and garden care is a plus, but we train.
- 8Must be at least 16 years old and authorized to work in the U.S..
