FP&A Manager, Defense & Government Contracting
Overview
You will build and run the FP&A function at a defense startup producing autonomous counter-drone systems for SOCOM and the U.S. Army, on track to $1B in revenue. Reporting to the VP of FP&A, you will own financial planning, forecasting, and reporting while partnering with leaders across engineering, operations, and government contracts. This is a strategic build role offering the chance to shape the financial infrastructure of a high-growth, mission-driven company.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build the annual operating plan, quarterly re-forecast, and 3-5 year long-range financial model, aligning program ramps, capital deployment, and capacity expansion.
- 2Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses for program delays, production acceleration, mid-year awards, and capital structure changes.
- 3Own the monthly close-to-forecast variance analysis and translate results into clear commentary for finance leadership and functional partners.
- 4Support cash forecasting with Treasury and the Controller's team.
- 5Partner with Manufacturing, Government Contracts, and Operations leaders to build and maintain departmental budgets.
- 6Design and implement the systems, templates, and cadence for the FP&A function as it scales.
- 7Prepare board and investor reporting packages including financial statements, KPIs, and forward outlook.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of progressive FP&A experience at a high-growth, capital-intensive company.
- 2Strong financial modeling skills including three-statement modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
- 3Experience with government contracts, milestone billing, and multiple contract types.
- 4Proven ability to support board and investor reporting.
- 5Excellent business partnering and written communication skills.
- 6Ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- 7Experience leveraging AI and automation tools for financial modeling and forecasting.
