Food Service Worker Cashier, Onsite at MedStar Health
Overview
Own cash handling and food service operations at MedStar Health locations in Baltimore. You will operate POS systems, assist in setup and serving from counters and steam tables, and maintain sanitation standards. You’ll support retail operations, inventory, and closing/shutdown tasks. Collaborate with teams to meet department goals and uphold safety and quality standards.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and operate cash register and POS systems to collect payments and issue receipts
- 2Serve and replenish food from counters and steam tables ensuring accuracy of PLUs and barcode scans
- 3Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of workstations, counters, steam tables, and dining areas
- 4Assist in setup, stocking, and replenishment of beverages, service ware, condiments, and equipment
- 5Support in cleanup, closing tasks, inventory, and requisitions as assigned
- 6Participate in safety meetings and comply with risk management policies
- 7Provide courteous customer service and assist with opening containers and cutting food when requested
- 8May help with non-cash transactions and reconciliation of cash on hand
- 9Support in preparing for service before meals and breaking down stations after meals
- 10Assist in community outreach and departmental quality and service improvement efforts
Requirements10
- 1High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 2Prior work experience not required but related experience preferred
- 3Basic computer skills preferred
- 4Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 5Ability to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor
- 6Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards and report accidents promptly
- 7Willingness to work in a food service environment with variable tasks
- 8Ability to handle cash accurately and maintain security of cash at all times
- 9Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers and other departments
- 10Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
