Fire Service Technician | Fire Suppression Systems
Overview
Maintain and grow a route servicing fire extinguisher, kitchen hood, emergency light, and pre-engineered and engineered gas systems in the Pittsburgh area. Work with Johnson Controls, a global leader in mission-critical building systems, to deliver high-level service and compliance solutions. You will own the customer relationship, identify deficiencies, quote repairs, and upsell new offerings. This role stands out for its focus on NFPA standards and direct impact on safety compliance.
What You'll Do7
- 1Inspect, service, repair, and install fire extinguishers, emergency lights, pre-engineered and engineered suppression systems per NFPA standards and manufacturer specs.
- 2Identify deficiencies and provide on-site quotes and repairs to meet local and state fire codes.
- 3Upsell existing customers on new fire suppression products and services to ensure code compliance.
- 4Sell new accounts along your route by highlighting compliance gaps and offering tailored solutions.
- 5Meet or exceed sales quotas set by the supervisor, tracking progress on CRM tools.
- 6Build trust as a technical advisor, resolving service issues on the first visit.
- 7Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and sales activities using tablet and computer systems.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or equivalency required.
- 2Mechanical or electronic experience required.
- 3Valid driver's license required.
- 41-2 years of hands-on mechanical or fire suppression experience preferred.
- 5Basic computer proficiency for documentation and quoting.
- 6Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 40 lbs and work on ladders in confined spaces.
- 7Strong customer service and communication skills.
- 8Knowledge of NFPA standards and dangerous goods handling is a plus.
