Fire Life Safety Director (FLSD) Security Officer
Overview
You will own front desk security and deputy fire life safety in a high-end Manhattan commercial office building. You hold an FDNY F89, T89, or Z89 certificate and an NYS Security Guard card. You work Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, in a suit and tie at the lobby desk. This full-time role pays $25/hr (or $52,000/yr) starting with your F89/T89, or $23/hr during a qualifying letter period. You will train on-site and earn $25/hr once you pass the onsite exam.
What You'll Do9
- 1Greet tenants and guests at the front desk with professional courtesy.
- 2Monitor lobby access and verify credentials for visitors and vendors.
- 3Execute fire life safety protocols and act as deputy FLSD during emergencies.
- 4Dispatch security responses to alarms or incidents within the building.
- 5Maintain daily incident logs and shift reports for building management.
- 6Coordinate with building engineers and management on safety drills and inspections.
- 7Enforce building security policies and report violations to the FLSD and property manager.
- 8Operate fire panel systems and maintain fire warden communication during evacuations.
- 9Provide excellent customer service to tenants and their guests.
Requirements9
- 1FDNY Certificate of Fitness F89, T89, or Z89 (active required).
- 2NYS Security Guard Card (valid and current).
- 31+ year experience in commercial building security or fire safety.
- 4Available for full-time Monday to Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
- 5Professional appearance and suit-and-tie attire.
- 6High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7Ability to stand or sit for long periods at the lobby desk.
- 8Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- 9Pass an FDNY onsite exam if hired with a qualifying letter.
