Overview

You will own the Fire Command Center and building fire alarm systems at a Williamsburg Brooklyn property, responding to alarms and leading emergency response. You will coordinate with the FDNY and first responders, implement fire safety plans, and conduct drills. This role requires a valid FDNY Fire and Life Safety Director Certificate and a New York Security Guard License. You will stand and walk up to 8 hours per shift, with flexible morning and afternoon shifts. Work full time or part time at $27.00 to $28.00 an hour, with health and dental insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Monitor and operate the Fire Command Center and building fire alarm systems, ensuring immediate action on any alarm event.
  • 2Respond to alarms, emergencies, and safety incidents, leading the building's emergency response until the FDNY arrives.
  • 3Implement and maintain the building’s Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan, updating it as needed for compliance.
  • 4Coordinate emergency responses with the New York City Fire Department and other first responders, providing clear and concise communication.
  • 5Conduct fire drills and safety training for staff and tenants, documenting participation and outcomes.
  • 6Maintain accurate incident reports and inspection logs, ensuring they are complete and submitted on time.
  • 7Ensure compliance with NYC fire safety codes and regulations, staying current on any changes.
  • 8Perform routine inspections of fire safety systems and equipment, reporting any deficiencies immediately.

Requirements8

  • 1Valid FDNY Fire and Life Safety Director Certificate of Fitness (F-89, T-89, or Z-89 Certificate of Completion) issued by the New York City Fire Department.
  • 2Valid New York State Security Guard License.
  • 3Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems and emergency procedures.
  • 4Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting and coordination.
  • 5Ability to remain calm and lead during emergency situations, making decisive decisions.
  • 6Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation, including incident logs and inspection forms.
  • 7Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift.
  • 8Reliable transportation and flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
