Security Guard, Licensed Protection Officer NYC
Overview
You'll own security and life safety at a New York facility, protecting people and property at a high-traffic site. You'll maintain a visible presence, monitor entrances and exits, and enforce building policies as the first line of defense. Working with a team of guards and under a responsive leadership, you'll respond to alarms and incidents, and document everything in reports. What You'll Do10
- 1Maintain a professional demeanor and greet customers, employees, visitors, and guests with a welcoming attitude.
- 2Keep a visible presence in the assigned facility to deter suspicious and unsafe activity.
- 3Become familiar with incoming and outgoing traffic, including regular customers, tenants, and visitors.
- 4Answer phones professionally and direct calls to the appropriate personnel.
- 5Permit authorized persons entry and monitor all entrances and exits to prevent unauthorized access.
- 6Enforce building policies and procedures within the limits of your authority.
- 7Perform foot or vehicle patrols of designated areas to ensure safety and security.
- 8Observe departing personnel to prevent theft of company property and verify authorized removals.
- 9Follow emergency action plans and procedures, including monitoring alarms and systems.
- 10Prepare detailed reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities as directed.
Requirements8
- 1Must hold a valid Security Guard License or be able to obtain one within an acceptable period.
- 2High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 3State or municipality mandated security officer licenses as applicable.
- 4Reliable means of communication and transportation.
- 5Strong interpersonal communication skills and a neat, professional appearance.
- 6Ability to write routine correspondence, including log entries and incident reports.
- 7Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience helpful.
- 8Must be able to work the scheduled shift: Monday - Thursday 3pm - 11pm.
