You will own the setup and retrieval of traffic data collection equipment across San Francisco and the Bay Area for IDAX Data Solutions, a transportation data firm serving public agencies and private clients. You will deploy cameras and roadside tube counters, plus conduct manual counts for parking and traffic studies. Collaborating with a small team of experienced professionals, you will ensure accurate, timely data under varied conditions. This role demands outdoor work, occasional overnight travel, and a focus on safety and precision.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Drive safely to job sites across the Bay Area, sometimes overnight, following company safety standards and route plans.
  • 2Set up and retrieve traffic cameras and roadside tube counters at designated locations, performing routine checks to ensure proper configuration and minimal downtime.
  • 3Conduct manual field data collection, including counting vehicles, measuring traffic via radar, and recording pedestrian or bike movements per project protocols.
  • 4Enter field-collected data into digital systems with exactness, labeling and organizing records for easy analysis and reporting.
  • 5Resolve unexpected field issues by adjusting plans and using navigation tools to maintain efficiency and safety.
  • 6Interact professionally with the public and stakeholders, addressing inquiries to uphold the company's reputation.
  • 7Prioritize safety by following protocols, using PPE, and mitigating hazards near traffic or in challenging terrain.
  • 8Collaborate with project managers and senior technicians to complete jobs, supporting planning and execution as needed.
  • 9Manage time to meet deadlines, maintaining meticulous records of activities, data, and equipment.

Requirements13

  • 11+ year of outdoor work experience preferred.
  • 2Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • 3Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather and odd hours, including long days up to 12 hours and weekend shifts.
  • 4Ability to read maps and navigate to job sites with a strong sense of direction.
  • 5Constant vigilance for safety in various traffic conditions.
  • 6Quick learner able to master new software programs and training.
  • 7Basic competency in Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • 8Punctuality and time management skills required.
  • 9Smartphone required.
  • 10High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 11Must pass drug test and be authorized to work in the US.
  • 12Preference for day, night, or overnight shifts, and willingness to travel 25% of the time.
  • 13Located within 15 miles of San Leandro or willing to commute.
