Fabrication Associate - Pipe & Industrial Manufacturing
Overview
You will shape, cut, and assemble pipe products for a leading U.S. distributor of plumbing, PVF, waterworks, and fire protection supplies. Operating band saws, pipe threaders, and forklifts, you'll keep production moving at a 200,000 sq ft facility in Groveport, OH. Join a 12-person fabrication team that ships over 1,000 orders daily. This role offers OSHA-certified training and a clear path to welding and CNC operations.
What You'll Do9
- 1Move loose and bundled pipe using forklifts and overhead cranes to keep staging areas full.
- 2Assemble customer orders for PVF and fire protection products, verifying part numbers and quantities.
- 3Set up and operate band saws, pipe threaders, and roll groovers to cut and prep pipe to spec.
- 4Measure and mark pipe with tape measures and calipers, holding tolerances within 1/16 inch.
- 5Thread and bevel pipe using Landis threading machines, changing dies for 2-inch to 6-inch pipe.
- 6Perform quality checks with go/no-go gauges and micrometers, documenting defects in the ERP system.
- 7Operate plasma cutters and oxy-fuel torches for custom fabrication jobs.
- 8Conduct daily forklift inspections per OSHA standards, reporting maintenance issues to the lead.
- 9Maintain a clean, organized work area, following 5S principles to reduce trip hazards and downtime.
Requirements8
- 16-8 months operating band saws, pipe threaders, or CNC equipment in a manufacturing setting.
- 23-6 months forklift experience with certification preferred; must pass OSHA-style driving test.
- 3Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 inch and use calipers for quality checks.
- 4Experience with plasma cutting, MIG welding, or oxy-fuel torches is a plus.
- 5Physical stamina to stand 8 hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle pipe up to 10 inches diameter.
- 6Basic computer skills for entering production data into Excel and SAP.
- 7High school diploma or GED; vocational training in welding or machine shop preferred.
- 8Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays during peak season (October–February).
