Overview

Liberty Science Center seeks a creative and skillful Exhibit Technician focused on daily care and upkeep of all exhibitions. The role includes fabrication installation and maintenance of in-house traveling and off-site exhibitions. Candidates must diagnose troubleshoot and research solutions for exhibit carpentry electrical mechanical and computer issues. Reports to the Senior Manager of Exhibit Services.

What You'll Do11

  • 1Responsible for daily operations of all Liberty Science Center’s exhibits including start-up and shut-down ensuring functionality during public hours and events
  • 2Responds to daily calls from front line staff and volunteers regarding exhibit operation and maintenance issues
  • 3Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems down to component level determining root cause and recommending corrective actions
  • 4Operates oscilloscopes generators meters hand and power tools services and tests computers understanding their use and function
  • 5Develops tests implements evaluates and tracks preventative maintenance programs for exhibits
  • 6Provides support for in-house fabrication and outside firms in installation dismantle of exhibits
  • 7Maintains record keeping of exhibit files histories and inventory
  • 8Establishes preventive maintenance schedule including cleanliness of electronic components environment
  • 9Utilizes mechanical drawings schematics and product manuals for repair and maintenance
  • 10Maintains a clean organized and safe work environment observing safety and risk management procedures
  • 11Other responsibilities as needed

Requirements11

  • 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
  • 23-5 seasons experience in technical fields
  • 3CPC Card certification preferred
  • 4BCBA certification acceptable
  • 5AWS Certified relevant experience
  • 65+ years experience with carpentry techniques hand tools power tools basic electrical wiring and lighting paints and adhesives
  • 7Ability to read and understand schematics and product manuals
  • 8Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills on electrical mechanical and computer components
  • 9Model railroad experience a plus
  • 10Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 11Preference for candidates who can work in a fast-paced environment
