What You'll Do10

  • 1Evaluate patient exercise behaviors and conduct exercise tolerance assessments to develop individualized plans.
  • 2Utilize motivational interviewing and patient-centered counseling to engage patients and families in exercise goals.
  • 3Develop patient education tools for weight management, aligning with Strong4Life messaging.
  • 4Join interdisciplinary medical teams during weight management outpatient visits to provide exercise expertise.
  • 5Moderate quarterly bariatric support groups, facilitating peer discussion and resource sharing.
  • 6Document patient encounters meeting standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • 7Collect data for research on physical activity, supporting the team's guidance for pediatric obesity studies.
  • 8Mentor interns and staff, providing orientation, in-services, and clinical guidance.
  • 9Collaborate with Strong4Life staff to improve physical activity protocols and clinical processes.
  • 10Maintain knowledge of childhood obesity trends and behavior change theory to integrate into practice.

Requirements9

  • 12 years of experience in pediatric exercise or physical activity programs.
  • 2Training in motivational interviewing and patient-centered counseling techniques.
  • 3Bachelor's degree with nationally recognized exercise certification, or master's degree in a related field.
  • 4BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
  • 5Knowledge of exercise assessments and protocols for pediatric populations.
  • 6Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient and family interactions.
  • 7Proven interpersonal skills to function in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • 8Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • 9Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
