Executive Director, Relief International USA
Overview
Senior leadership role managing the Relief International US entity based in Washington DC with 50% travel. Reports to the Board of Relief International USA and works with the Relief International Network Leadership Team. Offers a salary range of US$170,000 to US$180,000 per annum plus performance bonus and benefits.
What You'll Do11
- 1Provide day-to-day and strategic management of the US entity ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies
- 2Lead all fundraising efforts across individual giving foundations corporate partners and institutional donors building team systems and data for sustainable growth
- 3Develop and maintain major donor relationships closing significant gifts and executing fundraising events meeting income targets
- 4Strengthen relationships with US institutional funders and shape competitive bid pipelines through collaboration with Network technical and programme teams
- 5Conduct RI US advocacy and policy engagement with US government stakeholders including Congressional offices multilateral institutions and advocacy coalitions
- 6Work with global Communications Team to enhance RI’s brand identity secure media exposure and raise organizational profile among key US audiences
- 7Oversee all US grants awarded to the US entity maintaining donor compliance and monitoring service performance
- 8Act as main point of contact for US grant donors from award through close-out
- 9Hold legal fiduciary and regulatory responsibility for the US entity including 501(c)(3) obligations IRS filings state charitable registrations annual audits and grant regulations
- 10Lead develop and retain US team upholding safeguarding commitments and fostering a positive productive work environment
- 11Collaborate across multi-entity network structure to align strategies and manage shared resources
Requirements11
- 1Minimum 12 to 15 years of substantial proven experience in a senior leadership role within an international non-profit humanitarian or development organization
- 2At least five years at director level or above
- 3Strong personal track record of securing significant income across US major gifts foundations corporate partnerships and institutional donors
- 4Experience leading revenue diversification reducing narrow institutional funding dependence and growing unrestricted income
- 5Sound working knowledge of US non-profit governance and compliance including 501(c)(3) obligations
- 6Proven experience overseeing US government grants including audit and reporting requirements
- 7Demonstrated advocacy and policy engagement with US government stakeholders such as Congressional offices and humanitarian coordination forums
- 8Experience working effectively with a Board on strategy risk and income performance
- 9Knowledge of donor safeguarding standards and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse
- 10Sensitivity to diversity equity inclusion cultural difference and gender issues with commitment to RI values
- 11Right to work in the United States and willingness to relocate if necessary
