Event Operations Manager, Audio Visual & Hospitality
Overview
You own floor operations for event technology at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, a venue producing over $3M in annual revenue. You lead a team of technicians and support staff, ensuring equipment and services deliver on time and within budget. You report to an Operations Director and coordinate with hotel partners and clients. This role blends hands-on supervision with strategic planning, offering a path to grow leadership skills in a dynamic hospitality setting.
What You'll Do10
- 1Direct daily floor activities and workflow to ensure all AV equipment and services are delivered on time and to client specifications.
- 2Supervise technicians' schedules and timekeeping, ensuring proper coverage for events and meetings.
- 3Review and approve client billing, flagging any issues to the Director or Sales Manager.
- 4Maintain daily equipment sheets, confirming accurate setup and inventory control.
- 5Enforce inventory procedures to keep stock levels optimal while safeguarding equipment quality.
- 6Attend BEO, Pre-Cons, and pre-production meetings to coordinate event details.
- 7Delegate tasks and mentor staff to uphold service standards and maximize revenue through upselling.
- 8Meet guests onsite to verify setup and address any needs, delivering a polished professional image.
- 9Foster a positive team culture aligned with Encore values, hiring and developing top talent.
- 10Manage performance reviews, salary adjustments, and training plans to build team skills.
Requirements8
- 14+ years of audio visual and customer service experience in hospitality, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
- 2High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3Proven experience leading workflow and team members in a live event environment.
- 4Working knowledge of AV equipment used in live shows and events.
- 5Proficiency with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office and the internet.
- 6Strong leadership abilities with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- 7Ability to manage ambiguity and drive results in fast-paced settings.
- 8Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and stand or walk for 3-4 hours per day.
Salary Insight
