Equipment Operator II, Streets and Utilities Maintenance
Overview
Owns semi skilled to skilled tasks operating equipment and vehicles to support maintenance, installation, and construction of city streets, utilities, rights of way, parks, and infrastructure at scale. Operates under guidance of a skilled operator or supervisor to complete projects on time. This role blends hands on field work with documentation and safety compliance. What sets this role apart is exposure to multiple divisions and hands on experience with a variety of municipal infrastructure equipment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build smaller, routine maintenance or construction projects, identify problem, obtain tools, complete work orders, and report completion to supervisor
- 2Maneuver and operate equipment to advance projects while following traffic laws and safety guidelines
- 3Operate excavators, track hoes, skid steers or backhoes to perform digging, trenching, and clearing with care to protect utilities
- 4Inspect and prepare equipment for safe operation and perform light maintenance and fueling
- 5Drive dump trucks to transport and distribute materials for maintenance and construction projects
- 6Operate lower classification vehicles to support division wide projects
- 7Perform basic labor tasks such as debris removal, signage installation, and material handling
- 8Follow department specific procedures for environmental and stormwater tasks and incidents
- 9Support recycling and waste pickup duties as assigned
- 10Assist during inclement weather and emergencies as needed
Requirements5
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent plus two years of maintenance, construction, or related experience
- 2Valid Georgia driver’s license with satisfactory MVR
- 3Georgia CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred
- 4GSWCC Level 1b certification (Stormwater Division)
- 5Additional certifications may be required based on assignment
