Environmental Test Technician II/III - Rocket Lab
Overview
Rocket Lab seeks an experienced Environmental Test Technician II or III to lead environmental testing of aerospace hardware at our Silver Spring Maryland facility. You will conduct rigorous tests such as static load thermal vacuum and vibration assessments while maintaining detailed documentation of results. This role drives quality assurance for critical spaceflight components and requires a strong background in aerospace testing practices.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform environmental testing of aerospace mechanisms using static load thermal vacuum benchtop operation separation shock and vibration methods
- 2Operate spaceflight hardware and test fixtures with data acquisition systems following established procedures
- 3Attach and remove components on hardware while inspecting mechanical and electrical parts post-test
- 4Maintain test fixtures and document findings in accordance with lab protocols
- 5Generate suggestions for process improvements to enhance testing efficiency
- 6Investigate non-conformance issues through systematic analysis
- 7Lead environmental testing efforts for complex spacecraft subsystems
- 8Collaborate with engineering teams to address test failures and implement corrective actions
- 9Ensure compliance with safety standards during all testing activities
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED with 2+ years aerospace environmental testing experience
- 2Understanding of basic electronic circuitry
- 3Environmental Test Technician II: 5+ years aerospace environmental testing experience
- 4Environmental Test Technician III: 5+ years aerospace environmental testing experience
- 5Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hour shifts
- 6Experience climbing ladders and working in confined spaces
- 7Proficiency with precision tools and equipment handling
- 8Physical stamina for repetitive tasks involving lifting up to 25 lbs
- 9Flexibility for extended hours and varied work schedules
- 10Willingness to work in diverse environments including noisy production floors and outdoor sites
