Enterprise GIS Architect, Esri ArcGIS & Utility
Overview
You will own the design and implementation of scalable GIS solutions for utility clients using Esri ArcGIS Enterprise. You will architect deployments of ArcGIS Server, Portal, and Online across cloud and on-premise environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Spatial Databases and drive system integration. This role demands deep utility industry expertise and a track record of delivering complex GIS architectures.
What You'll Do10
- 1Design enterprise GIS architectures using ArcGIS Enterprise, Server, Portal, and Online.
- 2Implement cloud deployments of ArcGIS on Azure or AWS, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- 3Integrate GIS with utility systems such as SCADA, CIS, or ERP to enable real-time data flow.
- 4Optimize Spatial Databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial) for performance and reliability.
- 5Develop and enforce GIS standards, data models, and workflows for utility operations.
- 6Lead technical design sessions and produce architecture documentation, including diagrams and specifications.
- 7Manage the lifecycle of ArcGIS enterprise deployments, including upgrades and patches.
- 8Support project teams in implementing GIS solutions for electric, gas, water, or renewable utilities.
- 9Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex GIS platform issues, minimizing downtime.
- 10Mentor junior team members on ArcGIS best practices and architecture patterns.
Requirements9
- 15+ years experience as a GIS Architect or similar role in enterprise GIS implementation.
- 2Expert proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, including ArcGIS Server, Portal, and Online.
- 3Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure for GIS workloads.
- 4Strong knowledge of Spatial Databases including PostgreSQL/PostGIS or Oracle Spatial.
- 5Proven experience in the utility industry (electric, gas, water, or renewable energy).
- 6Hands-on experience with system integration using REST APIs, Webhooks, or middleware.
- 7Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or related field; Master's preferred.
- 8Excellent communication skills to articulate architecture to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 9Ability to travel up to 25% as needed for client engagements.
