Overview
Enrollment Counselor who supports patients in gaining and maintaining health coverage through education and insurance application assistance. This role focuses on efficient renewals and enrollments to meet organizational goals. The counselor works in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accurate records and coordinating with local state and county programs.
What You'll Do11
- 1Assist patients in completing applications for private insurance Med‑Cal and other county or state health programs
- 2Screen patients for insurance eligibility and provide guidance on available benefits
- 3Conduct Med‑Cal and program renewals annually to retain coverage
- 4Track enrollment progress and follow up on pending applications
- 5Educate patients on financial assistance sliding fee scales and documentation requirements
- 6Participate in community outreach and enrollment activities as needed
- 7Collaborate with clinicians and admin staff to identify patients eligible for assistance
- 8Maintain accurate documentation in EHR and PMS systems including prescriptions and communication logs
- 9Complete compliance reports such as productivity Med‑Cal and PCP change reports
- 10Attend trainings like CHAMP‑Net and meetings to stay current on program updates
- 11Provide professional empathetic service to all patients regardless of coverage eligibility
Requirements17
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 2High School Diploma or GED
- 3Bilingual English/Spanish (required)
- 4Certified Application Assistant (CAA) Certificate (preferred)
- 5Two years CAA experience
- 6Electronic Health Record experience (preferred)
- 7Practice Management System experience (preferred)
- 8Reliable transportation and flexibility to travel between Los Angeles San Bernardino and Riverside Counties
- 9Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for community events
- 10Personal appearance appropriate for patient interactions
- 11Ability to cope in a fast‑pace environment
- 12Medi‑Cal licensure/certification required
- 13Ability to read and interpret business periodicals technical procedures and government regulations
- 14Strong writing and presentation skills for reports correspondence and manuals
- 15Reasoning ability to define problems collect data and draw valid conclusions
- 16Computer skills proficiency with MS Outlook MS Excel MS Word and internet software
- 17EHS experience preferred
