Overview

The ENL Teacher will own English language development for multilingual learners at varying proficiency levels in a Bronx middle/high setting with grade-level content access. You will collaborate with content-area teachers and school leaders to ensure rigorous instruction and strong family engagement. What You'll Do10

  • 1Build and deliver ENL instruction aligned to language proficiency and academic needs, achieving measurable language growth in 90 days
  • 2Develop reading, writing, speaking, listening, and vocabulary skills across whole-group, small-group, and integrated classroom settings
  • 3Differentiate instruction and scaffold access to grade-level content for multilingual learners
  • 4Set language-development goals, monitor progress, and adjust instruction or interventions as needed
  • 5Administer NYSESLAT and other required assessments, using data to inform grouping and intervention
  • 6Maintain accurate progress records and required reports
  • 7Collaborate with content-area teachers through co-planning, instructional support, and co-teaching as appropriate
  • 8Serve as a resource on effective instructional practices for multilingual learners
  • 9Coordinate with leadership, special education, and support teams to address individual student needs
  • 10Engage families with regular progress updates and participate in conferences and family activities

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2New York State ESOL/TESOL certification or eligibility
  • 3Strong understanding of English language development and instructional practices for multilingual learners
  • 4Ability to analyze assessment data and use results to inform instruction
  • 5Strong classroom management, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
  • 6Commitment to high academic expectations and culturally responsive instruction
  • 7Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • 8Ability to maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, and protect confidential student information
  • 9Comfort using educational technology and Google Workspace
  • 10Preferred: Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English
