Engineering Manager, Identity Governance (OIG)
Overview
You will lead the Engineering Access Requests Team at Okta, owning the design and delivery of Identity Governance features that handle how enterprise employees request, approve, and gain access to resources. OIG is Okta's flagship governance solution, and your team will build for thousands of enterprises. You will manage a team of elite engineers, collaborate with product and design, and shape the roadmap. This leadership role directly impacts real users daily, with clarity on outcomes and a high bar for execution.
What You'll Do9
- 1Set clear priorities and expectations, holding each engineer accountable for outcomes in the first 90 days.
- 2Collaborate with product management to refine the OIG roadmap, aligning on trade-offs and risks.
- 3Drive delivery of high-quality features by coordinating with System Architects, QA, Product, and Documentation teams.
- 4Provide technical guidance and mentorship, conducting regular feedback sessions to elevate team performance.
- 5Foster an inclusive team culture where diverse perspectives drive better engineering decisions.
- 6Source and hire top engineering talent, focusing on diversity and inclusion to strengthen the team.
- 7Manage support tickets and bug fixes for the OIG platform, ensuring enterprise-grade stability.
- 8Champion engineering best practices including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD to boost productivity.
- 9Partner with distributed teams across time zones to ensure seamless collaboration and delivery.
Requirements7
- 18+ years of experience in enterprise cloud software development.
- 23+ years of hands-on technical management experience leading engineering teams.
- 3Proven track record working with product and program managers to align objectives, priorities, and trade-offs.
- 4Experience handling support tickets, bug fixes, and enhancement work in a large enterprise application.
- 5Excellent communication and collaboration skills for technical discussions with cross-functional teams.
- 6Ability to work effectively with distributed teams and people of various backgrounds.
- 7Demonstrated ability to lead, recruit, mentor, and retain elite engineers.
Salary Insight
$204 - $280k per year
