EMT-B Plasma Center Medical Support Specialist
Overview
You will own donor eligibility and safety at a high-volume plasma center, using your EMT-B skills to screen donors and manage adverse events. You will join a team of medical support specialists under the guidance of the Center Physician and Center Manager. Every shift delivers predictable scheduling and a lower-stress clinical setting while making life-saving therapies possible for patients with rare diseases.
What You'll Do7
- 1Own donor eligibility screening, including informed consent, medical history interviews, physical exams, and review of SPE test results.
- 2Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and activate emergency protocols, including standing orders and transport to emergency care.
- 3Communicate unsuitable test results with donors, referring to Center Physician or Medical Affairs when needed.
- 4Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- 5Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health or ER is required.
- 6Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting local community investigations.
- 7Maintain compliance with plasma collection industry regulations and EHS standards.
Requirements6
- 1High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate of a recognized educational nursing program.
- 2Current state licensure as EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, or EMT-P.
- 3Current CPR and AED certification.
- 4State requirements for basic IV therapy.
- 5Completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- 62 years in a clinical or hospital setting.
