Overview

You will own patient care across three EvergreenHealth emergency departments, handling a combined 84,000 annual visits. As a Physician Assistant, you will work alongside board-certified ED Physicians in a physician-owned group. Your scope spans Level 3 and Level 4 trauma centers plus a free-standing ED, with 8-10 hour shifts and flexible scheduling. This role offers a path to full-time status in a stable, collaborative team.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Evaluate and treat patients presenting with acute medical conditions in the EvergreenHealth emergency departments, managing an average of 20-30 patients per shift.
  • 2Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs and imaging, to guide evidence-based treatment plans.
  • 3Perform procedures such as suturing, splinting, and ACLS-guided resuscitation.
  • 4Coordinate with attending physicians and nursing staff to ensure timely patient throughput and disposition.
  • 5Document patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) to maintain accurate medical records.
  • 6Communicate with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • 7Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings to enhance care protocols.
  • 8Maintain ATLS and ACLS certifications, completing recertification within required timelines.
  • 9Adapt to rotating shifts across Kirkland, Monroe, and Redmond locations, ensuring coverage continuity.
  • 10Mentor new graduates and support team cohesion during high-acuity events.

Requirements8

  • 1Certified Physician Assistant with current state licensure in Washington.
  • 21-2+ years of prior emergency department experience as an APP preferred.
  • 3Current ACLS certification required.
  • 4Current ATLS certification preferred; must obtain within 1 year of hire if not current.
  • 5Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and limited holidays.
  • 6Graduate from an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
  • 7Proficient in emergency medicine procedures and patient assessment.
  • 8Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
