Electrical Assembly Technician, Space & Defense
Overview
Own assembly of complex avionics units at scale for government and customer specs. Lead high-reliability soldering and wiring across circuit card assemblies, top level avionics, and test equipment in a on-site Phoenix area team. Work with design and manufacturing to debug and rework while maintaining stringent traceability. This role offers hands-on technical challenges and opportunities for growth within Moog’s Space and Defense group.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build circuit card assemblies and top level avionics units to spec
- 2Assemble wire harnesses and ground support equipment for high reliability applications
- 3Operate SMT pick and place and selective solder machines
- 4Perform board level repairs and jumper wire installations
- 5Interpret drawings and BOMs and maintain ESD and certification standards
- 6Collaborate with design engineering to troubleshoot and rework avionics products
- 7Maintain traceability documentation for controlled programs
- 8Perform coating and staking operations on avionics units
- 9Read engineering drawings to drive assembly efficiency
- 10Ensure compliance with IPC 610/620 and J-STD-001 standards
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 28+ years of hands-on electrical assembly and soldering
- 3Expertise in crimping and medical device assembly, board-level repair
- 4Familiarity with J-STD-001 and Space Addendum, IPC 610/620, torque/crimping tools
- 5NASA soldering certification is a plus
- 6Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
- 7Experience with avionics components such as circuit card rework and coating
- 8Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
- 9Onsite Phoenix, AZ with ability to work in Gilbert location
- 10U.S. export-controlled information access eligibility
