What You'll Do11

  • 1Support full lifecycle development of flight electric propulsion systems including requirements definition and flight implementation
  • 2Develop and qualify Hall thruster propulsion systems with emphasis on laser-induced fluorescence diagnostics
  • 3Plan and execute development and life testing of electric propulsion hardware and systems
  • 4Apply plasma diagnostics to characterize thruster operation and validate physics-based models
  • 5Provide test engineering support for EP laboratories including vacuum systems and high-voltage power electronics
  • 6Install and operate electric thrusters and diagnostics
  • 7Analyze test data and present results to stakeholders
  • 8Maintain EP vacuum facilities and support technicians
  • 9Develop technical specifications to meet project requirements
  • 10Partner with researchers to develop flight or research applications
  • 11Present findings at technical conferences and publish peer-reviewed results

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Electrical or Physics with 6+ years experience or Master's with 4+ years or Ph.D. with 2+ years
  • 2Hands-on experience with laser-induced fluorescence diagnostic systems in low-temperature plasma devices
  • 3Experience with vacuum systems plasmas electric thrusters and data acquisition systems
  • 4Prior work in government or industry electric propulsion development flight implementation
  • 5Experience with LabVIEW-based data acquisition and control systems
  • 6Broad experience with Python scripting and programming languages
  • 7Mechanical design 3D solid modeling and drawing generation skills
  • 8Knowledge of JPL policies NASA procedures and government regulations
  • 9Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative environments fostering innovation
