As an ED Registered Nurse at AHN Wexford Hospital, you'll own patient care for a 24-bed emergency department, including 2 pediatric and 2 mental health beds, in a non-trauma setting. You'll work within a clinician-led, all-private 160-bed facility opened in 2021, part of a 9-hospital system under Highmark Health. What You'll Do9
- 1Assess patient conditions and implement nursing care plans for diverse ED populations, including pediatric and mental health patients.
- 2Lead interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate care and ensure adherence to National Patient Safety Goals.
- 3Delegate tasks to RNs, LPNs, and support staff based on patient acuity and skill level during charge shifts.
- 4Drive department-specific quality initiatives, such as evidence-based practice (EBP) projects, to improve outcomes.
- 5Communicate changes in patient status to physicians and intervene promptly, documenting all actions per hospital policy.
- 6Mentor peers through role modeling, sharing clinical knowledge, and providing constructive verbal and written feedback.
- 7Maintain a safe environment by evaluating patient condition, intervention complexity, and outcome predictability.
- 8Participate in systematic peer reviews and seek learning opportunities using current research to enhance professional practice.
- 9Promote patient and family satisfaction by addressing concerns and fostering compassionate, empathetic communication.
Requirements7
- 1Current State of PA RN licensure OR enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) multi-state licensure.
- 2CPR certification required upon hire.
- 3Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance certificate required.
- 4Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance certificate required.
- 5Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting criminal background clearance required.
- 6Preferred: Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN).
- 7Not accepting new graduate or upcoming graduate RNs at this time; 1+ year of ED experience preferred.
