Driller Apprentice, Environmental Drilling & Construction
Overview
Own drilling support on active environmental and construction sites across Indiana, assisting drill operators with auger setup, soil sampling, and rig maintenance. Collaborate with drill crews, clients, and subcontractors on roadway and infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience with drill rigs and soil sampling equipment. Travel in-state about 50% of the time with overnight stays, but most weekends stay home. What You'll Do8
- 1Support the drill operator on environmental and construction sites, attaching augers and drilling tools per direction.
- 2Collect, label, and organize soil samples according to project requirements.
- 3Perform preventative maintenance on drill rigs and related equipment to reduce downtime.
- 4Inspect equipment daily and report mechanical issues or safety hazards.
- 5Work safely around heavy equipment and concrete trucks on active job sites.
- 6Follow all site safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- 7Travel in-state to project locations, including overnight stays, aligned with schedules.
- 8Lift and carry tools and materials weighing 75+ pounds on a regular basis.

- 1Previous outside experience in construction or environmental field work.
- 2Ability to lift and carry 75+ pounds regularly.
- 3Valid driver's license for frequent in-state travel.
- 4Willingness to travel in-state about 50% of the time, with overnight stays 2-4 nights per week.
- 5Ability to remain out of town up to two weeks at a time, with most weekends home.
- 6Comfort working outdoors in varying weather on active job sites.
- 7Strong situational awareness and safety commitment around heavy equipment.
- 8Previous drilling experience highly preferred.
- 9Experience on roadway, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects beneficial.
- 10Familiarity with environmental testing or material testing processes an advantage.
