Overview
As a Dishwasher at Nidito Cocina, you own the dish pit and sanitation flow for our family-owned authentic Mexican restaurant in Houston, Texas. You keep every plate, pot, and utensil spotless, and you keep the kitchen organized so the team stays productive. You work directly with cooks and servers, and your efforts directly support a clean, welcoming dining experience. This role stands out because you gain hands-on restaurant ops experience in a tight-knit team with flexible scheduling.
What You'll Do8
- 1Scrape, rinse, and load dirty dishes, utensils, pots, and pans into the commercial dishwasher, then unload and sort them accurately.
- 2Sanitize all kitchen equipment, including cutting boards and prep tools, using food-safe chemicals and proper concentrations.
- 3Keep the dish station stocked with clean linens, soap, and sanitizer solution, and break down cardboard and trash throughout your shift.
- 4Sweep and mop the kitchen and dish area to maintain a slip-free, clean environment, and take out trash and recycling as needed.
- 5Restock clean dishes, glassware, and silverware to their assigned stations so cooks and servers never run short during service.
- 6Assist with opening or closing duties, including wiping down counters, cleaning the grease trap, and final floor sanitation.
- 7Communicate clear signals with the kitchen team on dirty and clean loads, and alert the manager to any equipment issues.
- 8Support a positive team culture by jumping in on light prep or bussing tasks when the dish pit is clear.
Requirements6
- 11+ year of dishwashing or kitchen support experience in a fast-paced restaurant.
- 2Ability to stand for 6-8 hours and handle repetitive lifting up to 25 pounds.
- 3Comfort with hot water, steam, and commercial chemical sanitizers.
- 4Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred for clear team communication.
- 5Reliable transportation to Nidito Cocina's onsite location in Houston, Texas.
- 6Open availability for weekend and evening shifts, including holidays.
