Overview
You will provide essential care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs, assisting with daily living, personal care, and community integration. You will work on a 12-hour shift (8AM/8PM) at a Lowe's Guardian Angel facility, promoting independence while ensuring safety and well-being. This role demands empathy and resilience, offering the chance to make a tangible impact through direct support and advocacy. Unlike typical caregiving, you will implement individualized service plans (ISP/POC) and receive hands-on training within the first 60 days.
What You'll Do10
- 1Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring dignity and comfort.
- 2Administer medications and monitor health, tracking MAR documentation and reporting changes to supervisors.
- 3Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed, following dietary guidelines.
- 4Implement individualized service plans (ISP/POC) to help residents develop daily living skills and achieve independence.
- 5Provide positive behavioral support and communication assistance, de-escalating crises with CPI techniques.
- 6Maintain a clean living environment through light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, mopping, laundry, and dishwashing.
- 7Safely transport residents to community activities, appointments, and errands using a valid Georgia driver's license.
- 8Document daily activities and progress notes accurately, ensuring compliance with DBHDD, DHR, and HFR standards.
- 9Apply first aid and CPR in emergencies, responding to accidents or illness until medical help arrives.
- 10Complete 60-day and annual training requirements to stay current on best practices in direct support.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED.
- 22+ years of experience working with individuals with dual diagnosis (mental illness and developmental disability).
- 3Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license preferred.
- 4Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- 5CPI certification required.
- 6Pass criminal background checks (local and Cogent) and provide TB screening.
- 7Valid Georgia driver's license with a clean 7-year driving record.
- 8Authorized to work in the United States.
- 9Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks like standing, bending, kneeling for extended periods.
- 10Willingness to work weekends and holidays.
