Overview

You will provide direct support and skill-building to 7,000+ individuals with disabilities, behavioral health challenges, and sensory differences, including those who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing. You will work Wednesday - Saturday, 10pm - 8am overnight shifts, implementing person-centered plans that enhance independence and community access. Your team includes nurses, case managers, and fellow DSPs, with training in crisis intervention and medication administration provided. What You'll Do10

  • 1Assist clients with daily living activities: personal hygiene, medical appointments, community access, budget management, and recreation.
  • 2Administer medications and document all related actions per Medication Policies and Procedures.
  • 3Perform housekeeping tasks: clean bathrooms, kitchen, and client rooms; wash dishes/laundry; and maintain a safe environment.
  • 4Report client health, medication, dental, and mental health concerns to managers and the agency nurse.
  • 5Implement person-centered programming across domains like independent living, social/emotional development, communication, problem-solving, and vocational skills.
  • 6Plan and execute community-based activities aligned with each client's goals and preferences.
  • 7Complete all client paperwork on time, adhering to mandated reporter, OIG, and DHS guidelines.
  • 8Apply positive behavior management techniques from behavior intervention plans.
  • 9Collaborate with coworkers across shifts daily on client needs and document shift reports.
  • 10Provide transportation in agency vehicles to health care appointments, and adjust tasks as needed.

Requirements8

  • 1High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field.
  • 2DSP certification preferred; must obtain within 6 months of hire (agency provides training).
  • 3CPR/AED and First Aid certification required; must obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • 4Valid driver's license and ability to meet agency vehicle driving requirements.
  • 5Demonstrated literacy in English, including passing a literacy test.
  • 6Ability to multi-task in high-stress environments and interact with diverse personalities (clients, families, staff, funders).
  • 7Ability to complete all DHS training requirements and obtain crisis intervention certification.
  • 8Commitment to agency values and a diverse, inclusive, equitable work environment.
