Overview
Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential weekend support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs. This role enhances well‑being through personal care housekeeping health monitoring and community integration. The position offers a flexible schedule while requiring dedication to fostering independence.
What You'll Do13
- 1Assist with activities of daily living including bathing dressing grooming and toileting
- 2Support medication administration and health monitoring
- 3Help with nutrition meal preparation and feeding as needed
- 4Develop daily living skills and promote independence per Individual Service Plan
- 5Provide positive behavioral support and communication assistance
- 6Participate in home and community activities as outlined in care plans
- 7Perform light housekeeping such as vacuuming mopping laundry and dishwashing
- 8Maintain clean living spaces ensure trash removal bed linen changes and refrigerator clean‑up
- 9Monitor health and safety report condition changes and assist with medical appointments
- 10Promote personal hygiene maintain medical equipment and apply first aid when needed
- 11Complete documentation MAR tracking bowel movements and other health records
- 12Report suspected abuse neglect or exploitation to authorities and supervisors
- 13Contribute to ISP development and evaluation
Requirements11
- 1High school diploma or GED minimum education requirement
- 2Two or more years experience with dual diagnosis individuals
- 3Certified Nurse Aide license required for personal care tasks
- 4Current CPR First Aid AED certifications
- 5Pass criminal background check and provide TB screening
- 6Valid Georgia driver’s license with clean seven‑year driving record
- 7Ability to lift fifty pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- 8Willingness to work weekends holidays and onsite shifts
- 918 years or older
- 10Ability to work in United States
- 11Strong commitment to ethical standards of DBHDD DHR and HFR regulations
