Overview

You'll own repair and maintenance for a fleet of gasoline, electric, hybrid, and diesel buses in Nashville, ensuring safety and reliability. 5+ years of mechanic experience with DOT compliance and Class B CDL with P Endorsement. Work under Vehicle Maintenance Supervisors, using electronic diagnostic equipment and hydraulic lifts. This role offers hands-on work with modern hybrid systems and federal safety standards.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Inspect and diagnose mechanical defects in gasoline, electric, hybrid, and diesel buses using electronic diagnostic tools.
  • 2Repair engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic, cooling, and pneumatic systems for fleet vehicles.
  • 3Install and maintain electrical units and accessories using electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • 4Replace brakes, pumps, starters, injectors, lights, and steering gears on buses and support vehicles.
  • 5Operate overhead cranes, hydraulic lifts, hoists, and jacks for heavy component removal and installation.
  • 6Perform field repairs and emergency road calls to minimize fleet downtime.
  • 7Record and track repairs, time, and materials in the vehicle maintenance system.
  • 8Acquire skills to independently troubleshoot electronic and mechanical system failures.
  • 9Assist coworkers and refer unusual situations to supervisors as needed.

Requirements9

  • 12+ years experience as an automotive mechanic or equivalent.
  • 2High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3Valid TN Class B Driver's License with P Endorsement and Class A combination vehicle permit.
  • 4Acquire Refrigeration License (608) for fleet refrigerant systems.
  • 5Pass DOT drug and alcohol testing and maintain DOT medical physical.
  • 6Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • 7Basic computer skills for entering data into automated maintenance systems.
  • 8Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • 9Pass the Human Performance Evaluation (HPE).
