What You'll Do11
- 1Perform routine maintenance tasks on diesel engines including oil changes filter replacements and fluid checks
- 2Diagnose and repair diesel engine malfunctions mechanical issues and electrical faults using diagnostic tools technical manuals and troubleshooting techniques
- 3Inspect and test diesel engine components systems and subsystems to identify and address potential problems
- 4Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines and associated systems such as fuel injection systems turbochargers and exhaust systems
- 5Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities including parts used labor hours and service performed
- 6Follow safety protocols for working with diesel engines and related equipment
- 7Collaborate with maintenance technicians engineers and operators to troubleshoot complex problems
- 8Implement solutions to improve engine efficiency and operational reliability
- 9Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintenance schedules
- 10Utilize advanced diagnostic tools like scan tools multimeters and oscilloscopes
- 11Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
Requirements12
- 1High school diploma or equivalent vocational training or certification in diesel mechanics preferred
- 2Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with strong mechanical aptitude
- 3Familiarity with marine diesel and Volvo VODIA systems
- 4Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment
- 5Ability to read technical manuals diagrams and schematics
- 6Excellent problem-solving skills for complex mechanical and electrical issues
- 7Effective communication abilities
- 8Willingness to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- 9Physical stamina to perform demanding work up to 12 hours daily
- 10Experience with lifting pushing carrying up to 20 lbs
- 11Ability to work outdoors and inside various environments
- 12Knowledge of safety procedures and hazardous material handling
