Overview
As a Dental Hygienist at Plaza Dentistry, you'll own the full hygiene cycle from initial screenings to post-treatment care in a high-volume Manhattan practice. You'll partner with dentists to deliver preventive treatments and patient education, managing 8-12 patients daily. This contract role welcomes new grads and offers direct mentorship from experienced clinicians. What You'll Do10
- 1Greet each patient and ensure comfort before the examination, building rapport to ease anxiety.

- 3Conduct initial mouth screenings, reviewing oral health history to flag risk factors.
- 4Identify conditions like gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis and document findings for the dentist.
- 5Clean and protect teeth by removing plaque and applying fluoride treatments.
- 6Educate patients of all ages on proper brushing and flossing techniques, demonstrating with models.
- 7Give clear post-operative instructions after procedures like fillings or extractions.
- 8Take X-rays and dental impressions as needed for diagnostics and treatment planning.
- 9Assist dentists in selecting appropriate treatments for diseases including oral cancer.
- 10Maintain precise patient charts and monitor supply inventory, reordering when low.
Requirements8
- 1New grads welcome, state licensure as a Dental Hygienist in New York.
- 2Associate degree in dental hygiene from an accredited program.
- 3Certification in CPR and infection control.
- 41-2 years hands-on clinical experience preferred, but not required.
- 5Proficiency with dental software for charting and X-rays.
- 6Steady hand and excellent bedside manner for patient comfort.
- 7Knowledge of periodontal and oral pathology conditions.
- 8Ability to multitask and manage time in a fast-paced clinical environment.
