DataBase Engineer - PTC Windchill PLM
Overview
You will own the PTC Windchill database infrastructure for a P1 initiative supporting 120K+ parts across multiple ODMs. You will install, configure, and manage the database architecture that processes 600+ engineering change orders monthly. This role sits within the PLM team and requires deep expertise in Windchill and its underlying database systems. You will stabilize and scale the infrastructure to absorb growing product complexity and manufacturing diversity.

- 1Install and configure PTC Windchill database environments for production, staging, and development.
- 2Manage and maintain database health, performance, and availability for the PLM system.
- 3Implement backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical engineering data.
- 4Tune database queries and indexes to optimize performance under heavy load.
- 5Collaborate with PLM engineers to support 600+ monthly change orders without downtime.
- 6Develop scripts to automate routine database maintenance tasks.
- 7Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in Oracle and SQL Server environments.
- 8Document database configurations and operational procedures for team reference.
Requirements9
- 112+ years of experience as a DataBase Engineer, with a focus on PTC Windchill infrastructure.
- 2Hands-on experience with Oracle and SQL Server database administration.
- 3Expertise in database design, performance tuning, and high-availability setups.
- 4Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell or Python for automation.
- 5Strong knowledge of PLM systems and engineering change processes.
- 6Experience managing databases for 120K+ parts or similar large-scale product data.
- 7Ability to work onsite in Menlo Park, CA and handle critical production environments.
- 8Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- 9Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
