You will design and automate annotation workflows using Python and cloud tools, collaborating with researchers and engineers to support LLM development. You'll join the Annotation Project Design Team, a group enabling high-quality training data at scale. This contract role is fully remote within the U.S., with hybrid options near Santa Clara, CA, and offers a competitive $40–$60/hr rate. What sets this apart is the chance to work on cutting-edge GenAI models in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Set up, test, and maintain UI configurations for annotation tasks using third-party and internal platforms.
  • 2Build and adapt Python-based automation scripts for annotation pipelines, data processing, logging, and telemetry.
  • 3Collaborate with researchers, engineers, PMs, and annotators to gather requirements and design workflows.
  • 4Own projects from requirement gathering through delivery of annotated datasets, tracking progress and managing risks.
  • 5Troubleshoot issues related to UI, pipelines, and data formatting.
  • 6Document workflows and contribute to internal tools, playbooks, and pipeline validation logic.
  • 7Support annotation operations across varied data types, with focus on LLMs and GenAI training.

Requirements7

  • 12–5 years of experience in data annotation operations, ML data workflows, or software/data engineering.
  • 2Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data handling (JSON, JSONL, CSV).
  • 3Experience with annotation tooling (e.g., Scale AI, Labelbox, SuperAnnotate) is highly preferred.
  • 4Comfort working with AWS S3 and cloud-based storage pipelines.
  • 5Strong communication skills to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • 6Experience in multi-stage annotation workflows or model-in-the-loop systems.
