Critical Minerals Consultant, Government & Public Services
Overview
You will own critical minerals strategy and advisory work for federal, state, and local government clients, shaping policy and funding decisions across the full value chain from exploration to recycling. You join Deloitte's Government & Public Services (GPS) practice within the Strategy & Transactions team, working alongside engineers, geologists, and policy experts on supply chain resilience and innovation. You will brief senior leaders on supply risk and industrial capability, mentor junior staff, and turn complex mineral data into actionable insights. This role offers direct client exposure and the chance to influence national security and clean energy priorities.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead client engagements focused on critical minerals supply chains, assessing exploration, extraction, processing, refining, separation, and recycling capabilities.
- 2Brief senior government leaders on critical minerals risks, opportunities, and value-chain bottlenecks, delivering clear, concise recommendations.
- 3Structure and execute strategic analyses using Excel and PowerPoint to evaluate industrial capacity, demand forecasts, and policy impacts.
- 4Collaborate with junior staff to design research methodologies, quality-check outputs, and ensure deliverables meet client standards.
- 5Develop technical reports and presentations that translate complex mineral data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- 6Advise clients on federal funding mechanisms, such as BIL and IRA incentives, to accelerate domestic critical minerals production.
- 7Support business development by contributing to proposals, white papers, and thought leadership on critical minerals resilience.
- 8Travel up to 40% to client sites and industry conferences, representing Deloitte in high-stakes discussions.
Requirements8
- 12+ years working on critical minerals or strategic materials, covering extraction, processing, supply chain, or end-use markets.
- 2Bachelor's degree in geology, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, earth sciences, or related field; Master's preferred.
- 3Located in Washington, DC and able to work onsite part-time.
- 4Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
- 5Ability to travel up to 40% on average.
- 6Demonstrated ability to brief senior leaders on supply risk, industrial capability, or value-chain bottlenecks.
- 7Experience collaborating with junior staff to structure analyses and quality-check deliverables.
- 8Experience publishing in technical journals or conducting applied research on minerals or materials.
